Passionate volunteers from our surrounding community make our programs a success. If you have a heart for helping others, want to make a difference in someone's life, or have ideas for how we can grow in our mission, we want to hear from you. 

**All volunteers who work around our community's children must have completed a Safeguarding God's Children Workshop. If you are not yet certified through this program, we can provide you with the resources.

Community Garden 

Bed Stewards - Each of our raised beds is cared for by our Bed Stewards. Stewards can be individuals, families, or a group of friends who sponsor one bed, plant the vegetables, and care for the plants. Learn more about the Community Garden.

Community Garden Steward - Serve as a connection point for all of our Bed Stewards, recruit new Bed Stewards throughout our community, and coordinate periodic planting and weeding days. Learn more about the Community Garden.

Community Garden Mentors - If you are a knowledgable gardener with a passion for teaching others, consider coordinating an educational opportunity for our Bed Stewards and community as a whole. Class offerings can be one-time events or can be regularly scheduled opportunties based on your availability. Learn more about the Community Garden.

Community Liaisons

Community Liaisons - Help us spread the word into our larger community. If you are a residents or business owner in the Serna Catchment Area, we need your connections to help us grow our message and support. It can be as simple as regularly attending your HOA meetings to approaching other business owners to gather their interest. 

Data Entry & Office Assistance

Office Assistants - If you are talented at data entry, phone support, organizing, and connecting with others, we can use your help! Much of the day to day work to keep Barrington Neighbors running is completed by the amazing staff at Church of Reconciliation. To ease their time committment we are seeking individuals to perform these tasks on a volunteer basis. Time and schedule is very flexible based on your availability. Duties will be performed at the office of Church of Reconcilation.

Marketing & Design Assistance

Marketing Assistants - If you are a marketing and/or design professional, or looking for an internship for your degree in marketing or desisgn, you can be a vital part of our growth. Our needs span social media management, web management, press releases, brochure design and more. 

RMI Volunteer

Volunteer at RMI - Our partner program RMI is currently seeking a variety of volunteers to assist their residents and clients. Learn more about our involvement with RMI here, or learn about their volunteer availabilities directly on their website.

Serna Elementary After School Tutoring

After School Tutor - If you have a passion for helping children succeed in education and have the ability to volunteer once a week at Serna Elementary then we have a place for you. 

Serna Summer Enrichment Program

Tutoring Assistance - Our Summer Enrichment program provides educational tutoring each morning in math and science. Activity Assistance - During the afternoon, we need passionate volunteers to provide care and activities to children in our program. To assist or provide an activity, please contact Joy McGaugh directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. Meal Time Assistance - In partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank, we provide breakfast and lunch to our students in the Summer Enrichment Program for 5 weeks. Serve on a Committee of the Board

Development Committee - The Development Committee assists the Board of Directors in planning outside funding efforts, and works with businesses and leaders to solicit grants and company sponsorhips.

Finance Committee - The Finance Committee assists the Board of Directors in overseeing the non-profit's budget, and ensures the fiscal responsibilty of all programs.

Program Committee - The Program Committee assist the Board of Directors in overseeing our programs, establishing new programs, and soliciting volunteers to coordinate our programs. During the summer of 2017, they will potentially have high involvement in our Listening Tour of the Community as we research the needs and resources in our community.

Youth Outreach

Youth Outreach Volunteers - If you have a passion for working with and empowing young adults and youth, you can make a big impact in our immediate community. We are growing our program and can use volunteers with creative minds to be a part of its growth.
