Community Garden Refresh

As part of our efforts to increase quality of life for residents of our community, and to increase awareness of healthy eating initiatives, Barrington Neighbors oversees a Community Garden of 34 raised beds. The garden is located on the property border between the Oaks of Marymont Apartments and Church of Reconciliation and is open for use by any resident of the surrounding area.

On Thursday, April 20th, the Junior League of San Antonio came and completed a Done in a Day volunteer activity to help us refresh the community garden. In addition to the volunteers from the JLSA, clients from Reaching Maximum Independence and their Executive Director were on hand helping out and making a difference. In only a few short hours volunteers were able to weed and prepare 8 of the beds for residents to begin planting!

Feeding a Community

Located on the grounds between Church of Reconciliation and Oaks of Marymont apartments, THE garden is available for use by any resident in our surrounding community. Bed Stewards are individuals and families who adopt one of the raised beds to grow fruits and vegetables for use in homes. Many beds already have Stewards, and there are more available if you are interested. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to inquire.

Environmentally Responsible

Our raised beds are watered using an environmentally conscious rain catchment system. The tank collects rain water from the roofs of Church of Reconciliation and stores it for use in the garden.
